You’re hiking up a mountain. With your dog, of course, I mean duh we live in Colorado. You have her on a long leash - you’re a responsible human, after all - but she runs ahead and turns around and comes back limping.

You dig into your bag for your handy-dandy Top Dog First Aid Kit, specially made for dogs by Angela Forhan. She consulted with veterinarians and pet first-aid specialists to create the kit that gives you peace of mind on the trail or anywhere you go with your pet.

You check your pup’s paw and find a thorn! (Oh good - an easy one!) You check the First-Aid booklet and turn to the page on lacerations. You use the included tweezers, iodine wipes, and styptic powder. You do your best to bandage it up, and decide from there if you can continue on or need to head back. Thank dog you were prepared!

The kit comes in your choice of backpack or pouch. I carry a backpack on my photo sessions, and the pouch is perfect to tuck in amongst my other gear. Included are gloves, bandages of all types, a thermometer for heatstroke, a thermal blanket for hypothermia, cleaning supplies, topical ointments, tick removing tools, and a first-aid handbook, just to get you started.
